In many Spanish-speaking Latinx cultures, La Jefa is a term meaning “a woman boss” used to address a matriarchal figure, whether a mother, community leader, or woman business owner. For Mother’s Day, BlueCut teamed up with La Cocina to create an apron that honors women who are the “boss” of their professional and home kitchens, with 20% of proceeds from the sale of each apron benefiting the non-profit organization’s food hall.
Located in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood, the La Cocina’s Municipal Marketplace offers a safe, low-risk, and low-cost path for low-income women-of-color and immigrant women entrepreneurs to start a successful food business.
